Virtual racing.

What is virtual racing?

Virtual racing is a category of racing in which participants do not run on a closed course. This means participants plot their own route and use their own recording device.

It has become known as the 'vegetarian bacon' of footracing. We're here to change that.

How to race
ISORACE III.

Start by entering.

Fill out the simple interactive form below, and you're in.

If you're under 18, make sure you have a guardians permission and guidance. We do not recommend that unaccompanied children race virtually.

Participants with disabilities are welcome and encouraged to take part, but we do not currently have a dedicated procedure or results for disabled entrants.

Where is the race?

It's wherever you want it to be. This is a virtual race, meaning it is not run on a closed course. Use a resource like 'How Far Did I Run', Strava Route Planner, or good old OS maps to plot your route. Make sure you pick a safe route, avoid main roads, and stay local.

We'll post your bib to you if you ordered one, or email you a digital version to print out if you didn't.

Race day.

Tune in to the pre-race build-up, starting at 09:00 BST.

Track your race with Strava, and ensure to set your activity to 'Race' when you finish.

Start your race at 10:00 BST, wear your bib, and run your heart out. You're running alongside thousands of others, this is a race.

As always, remember that cars are hard and they move fast. Race with care, you are not on a closed course.

Post-race.

Enter your results using the form we'll email to you at 10:45 BST. You must set your Strava activity to 'Race'.

Tune into the post-race breakdown, starting at 12:00 BST.

We'll release the results and send you your certificate in the coming days.

Useful Q&A's

What is virtual foot-racing?

Virtual foot-racing is any type of foot-race that is not-location based. For example, a half-marathon, in which you run wherever you like, and upload your results afterwards.

How does it work?

You find a ten-mile route, start at 10am on race day, record with Strava, and stop when you complete ten miles.

During the race, we'll email you a link that you can use to upload your results.

Do I have to live in the UK?

No, we're internationally inclusive, and have runners from all continents and most countries taking part in our races. Want to be a country rep? Get in touch.

What does it cost?

Our races and training are free.

How do I record?

We use Strava, because it's the most convenient and reliable service we know of. You can use other services if you like- just make sure they record elapsed time and gps data.

How can I contact ISORUNCLUB?

10 MILES

ISORACE III is ten miles long. That could be ten miles of trails, or ten miles on a track. Your call.

10:00 BST

The race starts at 10:00 AM British Summer Time.

24TH APRIL 2021

The day Thutmose III ascended to the throne of Egypt in 1479 BC. Also the day of our race.

NEW Tyvek™ Self-Adhesive Bibs

Made from Tyvek™, a fully recyclable, flashspun high-density material, woven from polyethylene fibers. Abrasion resistant, waterproof, and extremely hard to tear. This is a bib that still looks good after the race.

They're also self-adhesive, so no need to mess about with safety pins. Just tear off the 3M backing and stick it right on.

Our environmental impact

A footrace, without the footprint.

Unlike location-based races, we're able to have almost zero carbon emissions, and we cause very little pollution. Here's an explanation.

We're proud of our environmentally conscious racing formats. Access to fresh air and clean roads is fundamental to our sport, and we want to help maintain them.

We're carbon positive.

On average, major races produce one bag of unrecyclable waste per every three participants.*

The carbon effect of travel to races is almost unquantifiable. It's estimated that 85% of total emissions from the London Marathon are from travel.*

The average marathon runner uses two plastic bottles during the event.*
